JOB TITLE:
Education Specialist II or III ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1.
Supervise/mentor Head Start teachers in assigned area.
4.
Participate with the design, development, and delivery of in:
service training for Head Start teaching staff and volunteers.
5.
Conduct and complete periodic assessments of children in the area of early childhood and health services.
6.
Assist teaching staff to enhance parent involvement in their child's education.
7.
Work collaboratively with all Head Start staff to ensure that the overall needs of children/families are being met.
8.
Initiate purchase orders and distribute supplies.
9.
Monitor home visits, parent teacher conferences and child assessments and ensure that data is entered in a timely manner to appropriate programs.
10.
Assist with efforts to ensure that the program meets its non:
federal share and volunteer requirement.
11.
Monitor facilities, materials, building, equipment and grounds of center to ensure compliance with standards.
ADDITIONAL CENTER DIRECTOR DUTIES:
1.
Responsible for staffing, scheduling, and center operations.
2.
Interact with parents and families of children served and address their concerns and issues.
3.
Develop and maintain written policies and procedures for center operation.
5.
Responsible for initiating fire drills and documenting (Boynton).
6.
Director or designated staff needs to be on premises at all times, as per licensing.
7.
Responsible for security of the building, windows, and doors secured (Boynton and Howard).
1.
BS Degree in Early Childhood Education.
2.
One:
year (12 months) experience in classroom in an early childhood setting.
3.
One year (12 months) of supervisory experience.
4.
Knowledge of the principles human development and the learning process.
5.
Knowledge of the principles, practices and objectives of quality early childhood programs.
6.
Ability to travel within assigned Counties.
8.
Ability to write letters, proposals, reports and evaluations and to communicate verbally.
9.
Ability to develop and maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
10.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
